Dr. Aisha Macedo is a Board-Certified/Fellowship trained Surgeon. She completed her Ophthalmology Fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery at the Johns Hopkins/Wilmer Eye Institute. Dr. Macedo is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is an integral component to resident education at the Georgetown Department of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Macedo is dedicated to optimizing your visual system to allow you to see the world clearly. Her specific clinical and surgical interests include cataract extraction, refractive surgery, clear lens exchange, corneal transplantation and the treatment of ocular surface lesions.

Her research interests include cataract formation, corneal dystrophies, treatment modalities for keratoconus, and technologic advances in refractive surgery. She has spoken both nationally and locally and has published several academic journal articles and book chapters. While at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Dr. Macedo invented an instrument that is currently being used by ophthalmologists to advance a special type of corneal transplantation called DSAEK.

In her free time, Dr. Macedo enjoys reading, playing piano and experimenting with different cuisines. As a native Canadian, she is fluent in French, in addition to Spanish and English.
